THE JOURNEY

Ripples on still and silent morning sea
Birds chirped merrily
Flowers bloomed by the roadside,
Golden rays scattered among the cloud rifts;
We went on our way without any concern
We weren't glad,played no songs.
Neither smiled nor spoke a word.
As arrows of time flew,we quickened our pace
T'was noon,doves cooed in shade.
Leaves withered and whirled
Farmers and shepherds rested in shade.
I lay myself by the water,
Stretched my tired limbs on grass.
My complaints laughed and scorned at me
Held their heads high
Hurried on without rest
Crossed many meadows,lakes and hills,
Until vanished into the blue haze.
Salute you ,host of interminable path!
Mocked and reproach pricked me to rise
Still no response from me,I was lost
Buried among the gloomy humiliations.
But,in shadow of dim delight,
Warmth of sunshine glistened my heart
Made me surrender my soul,
Forgot for what I travelled .
Awake I from the deep slumber, danced and sang
Hope flooded my dreams.
How fool I was to fear
The path was long and wearisome
And struggle was too tough on my way!
